Coloradans for Protecting Reproductive Freedom Fundraiser @ Address provided upon RSVP
Feb 1 @ 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm

Coloradans for Protecting Reproductive Freedom is a nonpartisan ballot measure campaign supporting a constitutional amendment guaranteeing a right to an abortion here in Colorado, regardless of insurance status. When the U.S. Supreme Court overturned the Constitutional right to abortion in 2022, it became clear that Coloradans must act to protect our rights in case the state’s political winds shift directions. Even in a state like ours, barriers to care exist, rights are not guaranteed, and not every Coloradan has the freedom to access abortion care that they should.

The State Title Board set a ballot question that is so direct and so clear that the measure has evaded the usual early-stage legal challenges. With this green light, the campaign enters the signature collection phase even sooner than expected – a challenging yet excellent position.

To qualify for the 2024 ballot, the campaign must gather 185,000 signatures by April 25th, 2024. Although the campaign anticipates an extensive volunteer signature collection effort, the paid signature collection will be needed to ensure that this ballot measure meets the requirements to get on the ballot. We estimate our paid signature-gathering effort will cost around $2.7 million.

As you know, early contributions set the stage for a winning campaign in any election year. This is particularly so when, as here, the proposal seeks to amend the Colorado Constitution rather than statute because of the increased demands Colorado places on petition circulation for constitutional amendments.

They are hosting a fundraising event on Thursday, February 1st in Broomfield starting at 6:00 p.m. The address is provided when you RSVP.

About the Film

The Protect the Dolores Coalition and the Thornton Arts, Sciences and Humanities Council (TASHCO) are proud to present The River of Sorrows, a Rig to Flip film that follows two pack-rafters down the near-dry Dolores River in southwest Colorado as they navigate the complex issues facing the river and surrounding landscape.

Join us in celebrating the Dolores River Canyon Country, where we will learn from those whose lives are closely intertwined with the river and landscape. The film takes a deep dive into water use issues, boating, uranium mining, agriculture, Tribal water rights, and the impacts of climate change on this extraordinary place.

The film is produced and directed by the award-winning Rig to Flip production company and filmmaker Cody Perry—a Dolores, Colorado resident. Together, we hope to create a spark in communities across Colorado and inspire action to permanently protect the Dolores River Canyon Country.

RSVP for the River of Sorrows Film Screening!
